"Prints and the Pursuit of Knowledge in Early Modern Europe."

Prints by Albrecht Dürer and other Northern Renaissance art stars helped shape the history of science, according to this excellent exhibition curated by Harvard Art Museums' Susan Dackerman. Many of the exquisite maps, mathematical diagrams and anatomical illustrations on view disseminated artists’ own research. The show encourages visitors to handle facsimiles of the globes and other devices that these printmakers designed, allowing us to experience cutting-edge 16th-century technology. Through Apr 8.—LW
