Shanghai artist Zhou Xiaohu highlights the exotic, mysterious rituals of Amway in videos and photographs at Walsh Gallery. Zhou’s eight-part 2007 installation Concentration Training Camp (pictured) captures the bonding activities inflicted on the American company’s Chinese trainees. This exposure of capitalist idiocy is shown with the stop-motion video Self-Defense, in which a mannequin who symbolizes economically empowered Chinese women fends off harassment and assault with martial arts.
