End games

Fearing the end of the world is so 2012. Still, Richard Horne has laid out more than 100 doomsday scenarios in his new A Is for Armageddon (Harper, $19.99), and we feel fine. Each is accompanied by a whimsical illustration and a chart on when to panic (the needle uncomfortably lands on “Too Late” too often), and one gets the feeling that no apocalypse has gone unturned (scenarios range from drought to “plastic soup”). Consider it an almanac of your nightmares. You’re welcome!
