Dome of Doom: Photo gallery
Author James Kennedy serves as ringmaster at a fantasy dance-battle party.
Years ago, while completing his fantasy novel The Order of Odd-Fish, James Kennedy was fond of throwing extreme themed costume parties in his Wicker Park flat. His Dome of Doom party gained such notoriety that art-party organizer Collaboration thought it would make a great centerpiece for its 2010 benefit event, held Saturday, April 17. Dance-fighters got in free to the party. Following a mellow gallery show of fan artwork inspired by Kennedy’s novel, a parade of fiends and marauders headed downstairs just before 11pm to a PVC-constructed dome for an organized tournament of battle dancing—judged by Kennedy and his cohorts. By night’s end, the diminutive but powerful Notorious S.A.D. (a.k.a. Sparkle Motion) finished as the champion.
