Only Sports Action Team, an NBC comedy that screens after Sunday Night Football coverage, could make legendary wide receiver Jerry Rice (pictured, third from left) so pissed off. The improv- and Chicago-based show gets pro athletes in on the joke, allowing them to flex the acting muscles they aren’t normally required to use. After a successful first season, SAT kicked off its second in full force September 9, airing on countless NBC affiliates. The first few episodes lost some laughs due to super-quick edits, but the latest finds the group back on its game, including scenes with the show’s tech guy (guest improviser Bill Cochran) that’ll make you cringe with comic tension.
