Second City's best anniversary programming

All-star reunions and more are in the works for Second City's 50th.

While tickets to most Second City anniversary (December 11–13) events are sold out, there are still laughs to be had: SC kicks off the festivities December 6 with the debut of its 97th Mainstage revue, Taming of the Flu (get a sneak peek at new material in the current revue). Here are a few shows worth calling your ticket broker about.

SCTV cast reunion, December 11 at 7, 10pm
Stars from the television offshoot of Toronto’s SC troupe reunite for the first time in ages: Eugene Levy, Catherine O’Hara, Harold Ramis, Martin Short and Dave Thomas top the list. Mainstage, $175–$750. Sold out.

Stephen Colbert, December 12 at 10am
The Comedy Central pundit, his co-executive producer and writers discuss the making of The Colbert Report. Mainstage, $25. Sold out.

“The Second City: One Night Only,” December 12 at 7pm
This SC greatest-hits show culls top alumni to perform some of the theater’s best archival material. The lineup includes Jim Belushi, Steve Carell, Stephen Colbert, Jeff Garlin, Jack McBrayer, Susan Messing, Bob Odenkirk, Nia Vardalos, George Wendt and…you get the idea. Mainstage and e.t.c., $125. Second to None screening, December 13 at 10am
View the doc film that chronicles the making of Paradigm Lost, a classic revue featuring ensemble members Scott Adsit, Kevin Dorff, Rachel Dratch, Tina Fey and more. e.t.c., $10. Tickets still available as of press time.

“Second City in the Sixties,” December 13 at 4pm
Panelists including Alan Arkin and Fred Willard join SC cofounder Bernie Sahlins and artistic consultant Sheldon Patinkin for a look back at the swinging ’60s. Mainstage, $25. Sold out.
