LUNA NEGRA DANCE THEATER October 16
A world premiere by artistic director Gustavo Ramírez Sansano, the first North American showing of Bate (pronounced “batche”) by Brazilian dance maker Fernando Melo and a near-complete turnover of dancers mark the debut of Luna 2.0, bringing fiery new personalities into the city’s dance scene. LIZT ALFONSO DANCE CUBA October 28, 29
Pyrotechnic Cuban dancers have made waves in the U.S. for a generation. With American Ballet Theatre’s first visit to Havana in 50 years scheduled for November, and this all-female troupe heading to Chicago shortly beforehand, the cultural exchange shows no signs of slowing down.
