Hoodwinked Too! Hood vs. Evil
The target audience for this sequel wasn’t even born when the original came out.
SEEING RED An animated Panettiere fixes to fight.
Your kids probably won’t remember the first Hoodwinked, which came out in 2005—a literal lifetime ago for the target audience here. But this one’s got enough original plot to stand on its own: Red Riding Hood (Panettiere) is a teenager now and training to join a secret group called the Sister Hoods. She’s called away to investigate the disappearance of her grandmother and Hansel and Gretel. The star-studded cast and pop-culture references are entertaining enough for grown-ups, while kids will get a kick out of the barrage of fairy-tale characters with beefed-up personalities who make cameos. It’s also nice to see a strong heroine who doesn’t look like a sex kitten, but the gratuitous Wile E. Coyote–style violence cheapens things.
