You may find yourself emoting as much over the decor as you do over the romantic dilemma at the center of It’s Complicated. The rooms are decorated with such impeccable taste you’ll scan the bottom of the frame for item numbers and prices. Check out that Sub-Zero fridge! And those cozy armchairs! Ooh, and how much for the gracefully aging divorced restaurateur (Streep) with the occasional outbursts of despair over getting old alone? She’s adorable. And for a matched set, can we also get the rakishly charming lawyer ex-husband (Baldwin) who’s questioning the wisdom of his new marriage to a younger trophy wife? He may have been a jerk, but he’s kind of sexy in his own way.

The plotting is all in soft focus. Ten years after their divorce, Streep and Baldwin start a fling. But she’s also attracted to her architect (Martin, wasted in a horribly underwritten part). It’s nice to see a film about people in their late 50s having fun (and even—gasp—sex), and Streep and Baldwin have easy comic chemistry that makes you wish the material were sharper as they moan about getting old. At least they’re doing it in lovely surroundings.

• Now playing.
