Bronson

Hardy is a jolly volcano of rage in this bizarre and mighty prison flick. It’s the kind of acting opportunity that transforms bodies and, let’s hope, careers. The film’s tale of Britain’s notorious “career prisoner” is a real-life one, and Danish daredevil auteur Refn has taken massive liberties with the facts—but who cares? Swaddled in Kubrickian cheek and some hilariously ostentatious classical-music cues, the movie is a stylish, aggressively arty joke. Though conventional, extras are memorable: interviews with the rollicking Hardy, clips of his physical training and deleted footage.
