A perfect showcase for Cameron’s strengths—and flaws. Every vista of lushly forested Pandora is created on a computer. As with our hero, Jake (Worthington), a Marine, the longer we spend in the environment, the more we prefer it to reality. It’s a canny bit of manipulation on Cameron’s part, to make us prefer digital fakery over the recognizably real. Fans of the immersive theatrical experience should be warned: This is not a 3-D disc.
