LIP SERVICE Gallo and Verdú get closer.
Coppola expands on the buoyant sensations of his previous film, the origin-of-language love story Youth Without Youth (2007). This one’s more of a sins-of-the-father tale (the director’s speciality) that is dulled by its narrative inevitabilities: A younger brother (Ehrenreich) seeks out his long-lost sibling (Gallo) while on furlough in Argentina. But predictability is a small price to pay to see a revivified artist expressing his obsessions with control and confidence. Six featurettes and a commentary reward the faithful.
