Pet Shop Boys at the Chicago Theatre
September 14
Following a slew of critical affirmations for their newest album, Yes, synth gurus, ’80s hit makers and Brit bon vivants Neil Tennant and Chris Lowe take it to the road. Chicago XYZ Festival of New Works at various venues
September 21–November 15
As About Face finds its footing in the wake of its $300K budget shortfall, it continues its mission to enhance the national dialogue on gender and sexuality with an eight-week fest of new and in-progress works. Chicago XYZ Festival features the world premiere of Canadian playwright and Obie-winner Adam Bock’s Flowers; a swashbuckling take on The Pirates of Penzance from Philly’s Pig Iron clown company; the Lesbian Play Reading Series featuring AFT’s own artistic director Bonnie Metzgar; and Let Them Eat Cake, an interactive same-sex marriage piece from out performance artist Holly Hughes and AFT artistic associate Megan Carney.
