Adventures of the Galaxy Rangers: Volume One
If you love stupid visual gags in the middle of a poorly animated gunfight, this 1986–1989 space Western—one of the first anime-style shows to be created primarily in the U.S.—is for you. If you prefer your entertainment served in half-hour blocks of strung-together non sequiturs, this is for you, too. But if you’re a part of the population that starts with “s” and ends with “toners,” this is really for you. Honest to spacegod, the first episode alone contains a monkey dance-off, space pirates, an umbrella hat, a jazz cat that shoots lasers out of its saxophone, spacesuit camel toe and a “Series 5 brain implant.” The second episode introduces us to the alien character of Buzzwang (yeah, we know). Also, hey, Jerry Orbach voices the main guy, so it can’t all be bad. Just kidding.
