Sporting an unkempt facial mane that recalls Unabomber Ted Kaczynski, Eamon Daly is aware of his unfortunate ability to sketch out overprotective stroller pushers in his Edgewater ’hood. They need not fear, however, because Daly’s strictly using the powers of his bushy beard for good. A 34-year-old CTO for an Evanston Web company, Daly’s raised nearly $2,000 for West Garfield Park’s Off the Street Club, Chicago’s oldest boys and girls club, by hoisting household miscellany suggested by contributors—models of the Millennium Falcon and R2D2, for example—with his lustrous chin growth. For every $100 donated, he adds one pound, “until we raise $5,000, or my beard is violently ripped off my face,” he writes on the fund-raising project’s site, where you can view videos of each lift. “Help make my worst nightmare come true!”
