High fives and cargo shorts abound as dude-magnet rec sports cornhole and Ultimate face off.

Ultimate (a.k.a. Ultimate Frisbee)
The gist Beach teams of five-on-five or grass teams of seven-on-seven pass the Frisbee as they work their way down the field using different defensive and offensive strategies.

Big event At Ultimate Chicago Sandblast, Saturday 18 at 7pm and Sunday 19 at 9am, 700-plus players from across the country convene to fling a Frisbee down the sandy field at Montrose Beach (773-447-8022, chicagosandblast.com, free for spectators). Bring your A-game: A prize package valued at more than $2,000 includes merch, an entry to next year’s Sandblast and a similar beach tournament in Los Angeles, Chipotle certificates and other goods.

Cornhole (a.k.a. tailgate toss, beanbag toss, baggo, bags)
The gist Teams toss corn feed–stuffed bags into holes carved into wooden boxes, earning three points for landing bags in the hole and one point for landing on the box surface.
Inebriant of choice Cheap beer
Bro-to-woman ratio Not as pantsy as you’d think; most bar games are coed.
Best competitor names BAGojevich, Cornholio, the Bagettes, Toss it Like it’s Hot, D-Bags
Big event On Saturday 18, more than 600 tossers descend on Soldier Field to throw around the stuffed sacks at the Soldier Field Cornhole Classic (312-235-7000; singles $25–$50, doubles $50–$90, kids and first time throwers free). The purse is a whopping $4,000—and to think, we’re just glad to get the brahs off our sidewalk so we can take a Sunday nap without the brain-throttling thwack, thwack, thwack.
Play on Bags On Tap hosts regular baggo games year-round. Catch one Saturday 18 at 1pm at Citizen Bar (364 W Erie St, 312-640-1156). The winner takes home at least $200 per tournament, depending on the number of contenders.
Winner! Bags, just for the team names alone—although playing on “cornhole” and “bags” makes it almost too easy.
