But wait, there's more…

“With Malice Toward None: The Abraham Lincoln Bicentennial Exhibition” at the Newberry Library
Opens Oct 10
Two pairs of spectacles, a pocket knife, a $5 Confederate note and a button. These ordinary objects filled Lincoln’s pockets on April 14, 1865, the day of his assassination. The now-fascinating ephemera belongs to the Library of Congress’s massive assemblage of Lincoln-related objects, which makes a pit stop at the Newberry Library this fall. Take a peek at dozens of displays including the “Farewell Address” that the President penciled from a train car, a handwritten draft of the Gettysburg Address, and the Bible upon which Lincoln—and Obama—took the oath of office. 60 W Walton St (312-943-9090, www.newberry.org). Mon, Fri, Sat 8:15am–5pm; Tue, Wed, Thu 8:15am–7:30pm. Free.
Doodleganza: The Drawing Extravaganza at the Museum of Contemporary Art
Starts Oct 6
During the museum’s free Tuesdays, a Chicago art star leads drawing games at Puck’s Cafe. “It’s basically a big drawing party,” says Amy Corle, MCA’s director of visitor services. “It’s not about making an accurate portrayal or creating perspective—it’s nothing you have to master in art school.” Artists Scott and Tyson Reeder (Scott has work on display in the museum) kick off the series on Oct 6. They bring their wacky anything-goes art style, and while you might not learn to paint like Bob Ross (thank God), you will get those creative juices flowing. 220 E Chicago Ave (312-280-2660, mcachicago.org). First Tuesday of the month, 6pm, through Apr 27. Free.
