A hybrid salon-cocktail-lounge is your personal heaven. Forget Mr. Big, grab your ladies and head to Beauty Bar, the newly opened, retro salon-themed bar and club that’s decked out in 1950s beauty-parlor stylings, including vintage hair dryers and posters of old-school hair models. DJs pump out beats under the disco ball, and you can girlishly indulge in a martini and a manicure for only $10. Chicago may not be the city that never sleeps, but at least you can get your nails done at 11pm. Beauty Bar, 1444 W Chicago Ave (312-226-8828, beautybar.com). Nightly 5pm–midnight; $10 martini and manicure.
If you like Charlotte…
You’ll appreciate the new Jason Middlebrook exhibition “Less” at Monique Meloche Gallery in West Town. Formerly the assistant curator at Chicago’s Museum of Contemporary Art, the überfashionable Meloche opened her contemporary gallery back in 2001. “Less,” a site-specific installation, uses garbage and scavenged materials from the streets to create a work of art that speaks of man’s relationship with nature and the concept of living with less. Monique Meloche Gallery, 2154 W Division St (773-252-0299, moniquemeloche.com). Tue–Sat 11am–6pm, show runs through Jul 31; free.
If you like Miranda…
You’re never blinded by love’s rose-colored glasses. Enjoy the raunchy, cynical and witty humor of iO’s Cupid Has a Heart On: A Musical Guide to Relationships performed by the Cupid Players. The longest-running revue in iO history, it features songs about dating and romance. You might even pick up one or two sarcastic jokes to throw at your gal pal the next time she gushes about her love life. But don’t get too tactless. Remember, the fiery redhead’s big, snarky mouth almost ended her relationship with the BFF. iO Theater, 3541 N Clark St (773-880-0199). Sat 29 at 10:30pm, $20.
If you like Samantha…
You’re anything but shy about exploring your sexual side. After the workshop, browse the store’s inventory for something new to put in the drawer of your bedside table. Who says accessories are limited to jewelry and purses, anyway? The Pleasure Chest, 3436 N Lincoln Ave (773-525-7151). Tue 1 at 8pm, free.
