1. Enjoy the changing leaves on a hike through one of Chicagoland’s many trails.

2. Buy fresh at a farmers’ market.
Get your autumn fruits, veggies and cider at one of the farmers’ markets on our list.

3. Join a CSA (Community Supported Agriculture)
Buy a share in a local farm and receive a weekly box of whatever was harvested that week, while giving these small farms an infusion of cash at the beginning of the season when they need it most. Several locations.

4. Enjoy an autumn cocktail

5. Get lost in a corn maze
Wander Illinois’s largest corn maze before it closes for the season at the end of October. Enjoy the pumpkin patch, 700-foot zip line, and new Zorbing course, where you climb inside a giant clear plastic ball and roll across the fields, hampster-style. 6. "Ground Floor" Exhibition
M.F.A grads from various Chicago universities display their work. Through Oct 31 at the Hyde Park Art Center (5020 S Cornell Ave).

7. See an iO sketch show
Several new worthwhile shows and sketches begin for iO starting in September. iO Improv (3541 N Clark St); $5–$15.

8. Take in Kelly Kaczynski’s "A Stagehand’s Unseen"
Professional movers will rotate Kaczynski’s pine sculptures however they please at this West Loop space. Through Oct 23; threewalls (119 Peoria St, no. 2D).

9. Dine at Vincent
The Amsterdam-style dining hall opens up, complete with various mussel-and-fries combos, an extensive gin list, and decorative "red lights," which are thankfully the only things re-created from Amsterdam’s infamous district. 1475 Balmoral Ave.

10. Get your hands on a few hot album releases
A number of big releases are set for Tuesday 14, from artists including Chromeo, Trey Songz, Brandon Flowers, Robert Plant, the Walkmen, Blonde Redhead, Miles Davis, Mavis Staples, Superchunk, Underworld and Weezer.
