Coming to an Oprah Winfrey network near you: 'Precious'

There's no doubt that Oprah Winfrey hasn't thrown her weight behind Precious: Based on the Novel Push by Sapphire (she's pretty much done everything to support the film except personally take you to the movies to see it.)

So it's no surprise that Winfrey quickly swooped up the TV rights to the film for her upcoming Oprah Winfrey Network channel on Discovery.

As part of the deal, OWN also picks up rights to several other films by Lionsgate, the movie's distributor.

OWN, which has danced on rocky ground since its inception, is expected to launch sometime in early 2011. Winfrey's on-air involvement is still up in the air, though a reality series documenting her talk show's final season will be part of OWN's launch.
