Griffin Theatre Company will produce the first Chicago production of Spring Awakening, the Tony-winning 2006 musical by Duncan Sheik and Steven Sater. The show, based on the 1891 play by Frank Wedekind, follows a group of German teenagers discovering their sexuality. Jonathan Berry will direct Griffin's production at Theater Wit, running November 27, 2011–January 8, 2012.

Berry will also direct Griffin's followup, a new play by William Massolia called The Pact. Based on a 2009 Esquire piece, it concerns two soldiers who make a pledge to one another that if either is killed in action, the other will take his place at home. It runs January 14–March 4, 2012, also at Theater Wit. A third play is yet to be announced.
