Hawkins, Stoltz hop on Cromer's Streetcar

Real-life married couple Matt Hawkins and Stacy Stoltz will play Stanley and Stella Kowalski in director David Cromer's A Streetcar Named Desire at Writers Theatre, it was announced today. The pair, both of whom are company members with the Hypocrites and the House Theatre of Chicago, are longtime TOC faves for their onstage work. Hawkins also works extensively as a fight choreographer and, increasingly, as a director himself (including last year's Strawdog hit Red Noses and the Hypocrites' upcoming Cabaret).
They join the previously announced Natasha Lowe as Blanche in Cromer's first Chicago gig since his brief Broadway debut last fall. The Streetcar cast also includes A Red Orchid's Danny McCarthy (Mitch) and Jenn Engstrom (Eunice), Esteban Andres Cruz, last year's Non-Equity Jeff winner for Raven's Jesus Hopped the A Train (Pablo), Loren Lazarine (Steve), Carolyn E. Nelson (Colored Woman/Matron), Derek Hasenstab (Doctor) and Ryan Hallahan (Young Collector). Previews begin May 4.
