Sensaphonics honored for hearing safety
In July of 2006, I wrote about the danger of hearing loss at clubs and music venues (or from listening to headphones at high volume), and suggested some methods for protecting one's hearing, like custom earplugs. For the story, I interviewed audiologist and founder of Chicago-based Sensaphonics, Michael Santucci, for the story. This month, Santucci and Sensaphonics received the inaugural Safe In Sound Award for Innovation in Hearing Loss Prevention at the 34th annual Hearing Conservation Conference in Atlanta. The honor couldn't have gone to a classier or more thoughtful guy, or a more innovative company. I'll take this opportunity to suggest that if you spend a lot of time in nightclubs, rock venues or recording studios, it'd be wise to make an appointment at Sensaphonics for custom plugs. You might thank me someday.
