Chicago goes SXSW
The official list of bands playing this year's South by Southwest music conference (March 12-16) is up. As usual, Chicago's southbound group is a mix of vets (Pit Er Pat, Naked Raygun, Bible of the Devil), hot upstarts (Cap D, Hood Internet, Cool Kids) and nationally-bankrolled, supposedly-local names you've somehow never heard of (Trevor Menear, I'm looking at you). Note that these are only the bands playing official showcases, not counting the local folks making the trip to play the many day shows, house parties, parking lots, and street corners of Austin.
I'll be attending the music portion of SXSW, throwing down daily blog posts from the proceedings. Also, our Film editor Hank Sartin will be at SXSW's film conference from the seventh through the 12th with similar coverage.
Full list and links after the jump.
(Warning: Most of these are MySpace pages. Here there be dragons, eye-bleeding layouts and auto-launching music players, playas.)
