Downtown Sound schedule announced

Things aren't looking so rosy for the state of city-sponsored arts and culture, something this week's feature package expounds upon at length. Which is why we're so pleased to see the return of the city's Downtown Sound concert series—a run of 10 indie-rock–centric shows presented each Monday evening at Millennium Park's Pritzker Pavilon from late May through July. The free weekly gets off to twangy start with Bonnie "Prince" Billy (May 23), Justin Townes Earle (May 30) and Iron & Wine (June 6). But after that brings a mixed-bag of returning faves, including (don't call them retro) Milwaukee soul machine Kings Go Forth (June 20), Minnesota minimalist Low (June 27) and NYC art-rock squad Blonde Redhead, with punk populist Ted Leo and his Pharmacists closing out the whole shebang (July 25). One headliner and a few support acts remain to be announced, otherwise, find the entire schedule below:
