Wicker Park Fest 2011 lineup announced

There'd been speculation in some corners of the internet that indie supergroup Wild Flag would make its debut at this summer's Pitchfork Music Festival, but this week's announcement that the all-female all-stars would be making their Chicago debut at Subterranean July 22 lead us to suspect that might not be the case. Lo and behold a press release from Wicker Park Fest organizers announcing that they've landed the vaunted foursome for their own annual weekend blowout July 23 and 24—just a week after the Union Park throwdown. The news probably comes as a relief to anyone unable to afford the increasingly steep Pitchfork ticket ($45 per day, with $110 three-day passes already sold out), promising three stages of music across that boozy stretch of Milwaukee Avenue between North Avenue and Wood Street. In addition to Wild Flag, the lineup brings stoner fave Wavves, vintage rockers Blitzen Trapper and local folkie Joe Pug, plus an increasingly rare appearance from DJ duo Flosstradamus. Best of all, the requested gate donation remains a modest $5. With more headliners yet to be announced, this is once again adding up to be the best summer concert bargain around.
