Radar Eyes and Bare Mutants at Empty Bottle | Photos
Solid vocals, low-key guitar and lumbering drumming cut through the hazy fog and dim lighting of the Empty Bottle on Feb 6. Taking advantage of Free Mondays, the chance to enjoy some of the best lesser-known garage bands in town for only the price of showing a valid id, the venue was sold out, according to the Empty Bottle's Twitter account. The opening act, Outer Minds, warmed up the crowd with three vocalists belting out their poppy tunes, joined by drums, a pair of guitars and even a triumphant tambourine. The two other bands were both marking the release of new material with HoZac Records. Bare Mutants recently released a new single and remained seated during their performance, letting their chilled out 'tude permeate the crowd. Celebrating the release of their self-titled new album, Radar Eyes slammed through their set, kicking up the pace and even ending with a splash. Literally: A beer was sprayed around the audience.
