One of Chicago’s principal proponents of minimal techno, Kate Simko, has tirelessly supported the genre with her monthly Wake Up! parties. Now she’s finally getting attention for her original tracks stateside. In March, she released the She Said EP on the influential label Spectral Sound. On it, the producer goes from bleak to buoyant amid tightly controlled beats. On Friday 13, she performs a live PA at the Spectral showcase at Sonotheque.
