Red Light closes; Jackie Shen appears smarter than ever

It was just a couple weeks ago that we were asking what the heck Jackie Shen was doing leaving Red Light for Chicago Cut Steakhouse. Now it looks like she may have had an inside line on what the restaurant's fate was. Today, a day after it reported that Gioco was temporarily closed, Crain's reported that Red Light is also closed. (We were tipped off to the Crain's piece by a post on The Feast).

The obvious question here is what's going on with KDK Restaurants, which owns both Gioco and Red Light, as well as Park 52 and Carnivale. [UPDATE: 33 Club, Park 52 and Carnivale were never KDK Restaurants, though all were at one time or another owned by Kleiner.] The question may be premature (Gioco was allegedly profitable and plans to reopen). As for the question of whether Jackie Shen made a good move in leaving, the answer seems to be yes.
