Fat Rice

Fat Rice is heaven for serious eaters. From the seven kinds of pickles to the grilled sardines with fennel and olives, everything owners Abraham Conlon and Adrienne Lo serve has so much flavor, you’d swear the chef tossed in some kind of taste bud–enhancing drug. The Logan Square restaurant specializes in Macanese cuisine, a blend of Portuguese and Chinese flavors not found elsewhere in Chicago—or practically anywhere, for that matter. The namesake dish, a combination of rice with roast pork, Chinese sausage, salted duck, prawns and clams, is like a helping of paella that went on a round-the-world cruise and came back with a whole new personality. 2957 W Diversey Ave (773-661-9170).
