NKOTB: Quartino

New Kitchen on the Block

Cure all We've been eagerly awaiting John Coletta's return since he split from Caliterra. Turns out the talented chef is at the helm of Quartino, the brainchild of the Gibsons folks, slated to open this week in the old Napa Valley Grille space. Coletta's Italian menu offers options galore: chichetti (bar snacks), brick-oven pizza, spuntini (share plates), pastas, entrées and fonduta (fondue). Diners can watch house-made duck prosciutto, beef bresaola, soppresata and salumi get sliced to order in the cavernous dining room, which is decked out with reclaimed wood and subway tiles, vintage mirrors and mismatched chairs. Living up to the name, the half-Italian, half-global wine list is offered in quarter, half and full liters. 626 N State St at Ontario St (312-698-5000).—Heather Shouse
