New Kitchen on the Block

Italian import Hoping to capitalize on the success of their flagship Greenwich Village spot—and perhaps to alleviate the congestion that plagues it—the brothers behind Il Mulino New York have opened locations in Tokyo, Dallas and now the Gold Coast's Biggs Mansion. But whether these new outposts will siphon off some the crowds who have piled into their NYC dining room since 1981 is questionable. The complimentary antipasto and garlic bread sticks, followed by entrées such as saltimbocca (veal sautéed with sage and prosciutto; pictured), will likely only convert more of us into addicts. But now we won't have to travel to Manhattan for our fix. 1150 N Dearborn St between Elm and Division Sts (312-440-8888).—David Tamarkin
