New kitchen on the block

Fire it up Looks like wood-burning ovens are the new black; they’re popping up in restaurants faster than you can say “thin-crust pizza.” We say bring it on, and here’s hoping that the newest of the lot, Frasca Pizzeria and Wine Bar, is as tasty as it is tempting. The fifth project for the Dunlay brothers (of the three namesake spots, plus Smoke Daddy) turns the former J.T. Collins Pub into a lounge/restaurant with a menu of pizzas, wood-roasted meats, savory Roman-style crêpes, bruschettas and other brick oven–baked creations. A mostly Italian wine list, burnt-red leather booths and plenty of outdoor seating are among the other draws for you Chicago deep-dish holdouts. 3358 N Paulina St between School and Roscoe Sts (773-248-5222).—Heather Shouse
