SCHMEAR CAMPAIGN You know those genius moments you had in college when you came up with the key to saving the earth, the world’s best song ever played on a two-liter, and the greatest take on nachos—all within a ten-minute span? While you usually forgot most of your Mensa moments by the next morning, Chicagoan Dean Batogowski didn’t. In fact, he bottled them. The idea for Dean’s World Famous Dips was hatched after Batogowski’s friends at Peoria’s Bradley University repeatedly lapped up batches of his honey mustard, which went through dozens of incarnations before reaching its current, amazingly addictive state. After graduating and getting the company off the ground, Batogowski added three more dips to his roster. We’ve been slathering the vinegary honey mustard on everything from chicken fingers to grilled tofu, killing entire bags of pretzels with a jar of the spicy mustard, spreading the horseradish on roast-beef sandwiches, and getting our daily dose of carrots by dunking them into the Indianish curry dip. Available for $3.99 a 7oz jar at Olivia’s Market (2014 W Wabansia Ave, 773-227-4220) and Foodstuffs (for locations visit www.foodstuffs.com).—Heather Shouse
