Haute and cold So you want to be a kid again, huh? Then perhaps the ice-cream sundaes at the Ritz-Carlton aren’t for you. With the sweltering summer in full swing, executive pastry chef Anthony Chavez has created six decidedly adult ice-cream creations. Flavors range from classics like strawberries ’n’ cream (which pairs the house-made vanilla with fresh strawberries, vanilla streusel and almond cookies) to Ritz originals like Le Café Arabica (pictured)—a decadent duo of chocolate mocha and caramelized hazelnut ice cream that’s topped with bittersweet chocolate sauce and crowned with gold leaf-flecked toffee. It’s a dessert so fancy that 5-year-olds might not even want it—fortunately Chavez also has created a kid-friendly line of popsicles that they’ll be happy to gobble up. 160 E Pearson St between Michigan Ave and Mies van der Rohe Way (312-573-5223).—David Tamarkin
