Bites & benders
Saturday 26
Those who like both their music and their beer heavy won’t want to miss Three Floyds’ Dark Lord Day. The annual event is the only time to buy 3F’s Dark Lord Russian Imperial stout, and this year the party includes a performance from local metal gods Minsk, barbecue from the Floyds’ new smoker, and a stand manned by Bucktown’s HotChocolate selling Cornish meat pies and pretzels. 11am–10:30pm. 9750 Indiana Pkwy, Munster, Indiana (219-922-4425).
Monday 28
Check out what’s brewing in the east with Paramount Room’s Brooklyn Brewery Dinner. Brewmaster Garrett Oliver will talk about craft beers as you work through five courses of chef Stephen Dunne’s food: Kobe beef carpaccio, grilled swordfish and bacon bread pudding, all paired with Brooklyn’s beers, including its lager, brown ale and pilsner. $78. 415 N Milwaukee Ave between Kinzie and Hubbard Sts (312-829-6300).
Wednesday 30
The Two Surly Horses and a Goose dinner at Uncommon Ground combines chef Brian Millman’s meat-focused menu (house-cured duck prosciutto; confit of rabbit leg) with pours from Goose Island, Two Brothers, Surly and Dark Horse Brewing. A portion of the proceeds goes to Slow Food Chicago, which makes drinking these unreleased brews even sweeter. $75. 6:30pm. 1401 W Devon Ave at Glenwood Ave (773-465-9801).
