Fin Sushi Bar

For most of this winter, the corner of Wilson and Hermitage Avenues has been the site of a sad, unoccupied restaurant space. But seemingly overnight, all that has changed: Fin Sushi Bar, a narrow little restaurant serving Japanese and Thai food, opened March 1.

Fin is owned by Tai Thongthomya, whose family owns dib, a sushi/Thai place on Lawrence. Like dib, Fin's got a sleek, mod look; a menu that boasts creative maki rolls (a honey-walnut roll with shrimp tempura and avocado; a roll stuffed with spinach and roasted duck) and other creative bites (bacon wontons; bacon fried rice); and, perhaps most important, a policy to forever be BYOB.

Fin Sushi Bar, 1742 W Wilson Ave, 773-961-7452.

So glad to see something go up in our construction ridden sector. I'm between Hermitage and Paulina on Sunnyside and the entire block has been a construction pit since I moved in (May 2010). This is a nice surprise and something I can walk to (once the streets are open again)!

I love DIB- hope this place will be just as good. They need some lunch specials for the neighborhood!
