Xni-Pec—the Yucatecan restaurant that was universally lauded by TOC, Check, Please! and others after it was discovered by LTHForum.com—has moved from its first location, on an industrial corner of Cicero, to Brookfield (3755 Grand Blvd, 708-290-0082). According to the restaurant's owner, Antonio Contreras, the move was crucial if the restaurant was going to survive.

"We needed to be in an area where we fit more with the community," he said. "We frequently had visitors from the outside, but it was not enough to keep the restaurant running."

The restaurant's new location—which is smaller but located among other businesses (as well as a Metra stop)—is in its soft opening phase right now, with a grand opening planned for Tuesday, January 26th. Fans of the papadzules, etc, take note: The menu (and prices) have remained the same.
