Coasting into second

coast.jpgCheap sushi...an oxymoron akin to jumbo shrimp, bad luck and fresh frozen? Maybe, but for cheaper sushi that won't revisit in the morning, Bucktown's Coast is one of our favs. Throw in a BYOB policy and you've got a night of nigiri nibblin' that's downright affordable.

The good news for South Loopers and downtown day-trippers is that Coast is opening a sibling, South Coast, today. Expect the same stellar quality of sashimi and nigiri, cult-worthy signatures like the ceviche maki and po’ boy roll, and a BYOB policy for at least the next eight months.

1700 S Michigan Ave at 17th St (312-662-1700). Bus: 3, X3, X4, 18. Dinner. Average nigiri: $2.
