All summer long, we've been tapping chefs to create original recipes using products they've found at the farmers' market. Perhaps you've noticed a few of these recipes—Kim Schwenke's peach-cornmeal cookies with peach-blackberry cocktail. Or maybe Michael Taus's gorgeous halibut with carrot nage. Perhaps you've even tried your hand at making one or two. We hope your impetus for making these dishes is the possibility that your own will be as good as TOC thinks it will be—you like to make good food.
But in case you need an extra push to try our At the Market recipes, we're starting a little contest: Make any one of our At the Market recipes, snap a photo of it, and send it to eatoutdrinkup@timeoutchicago.com. Do it by the end of the day Monday, August 9, and we'll pick a winner to receive a copy of Heston's Fantastical Feasts, the new cookbook by legendary British chef Heston Blumenthal. Easy enough, right? To get you started, here are three At the Market recipes that use ingredients that are still at the markets (for now):
• Curtis Duffy's corn soup
• Josua Pearson's raspberry-and-cilantro cocktail
• Ina Pinkney's fruit crisp
