With its built-in clientele of symphony fans, this place could get away with subpar food and rushed “preshow” meal deals. Luckily, it doesn’t, so you don’t have to be down with Mahler to be down with its seasonal menu. Appetizers, like the orange-infused Peking-duck gnocchi and cured yellowfin tuna in the spring, make choosing what to eat here difficult; entrées like oven-roasted spring rack of lamb with caramelized artichokes don’t help matters. And as if giving the Loop a decent place to dine weren’t sweet enough, the roasted hazelnut–and–pineapple cake is.
