Hagen’s Fish Market

Most folks at this Northwest Side fishmonger, smoker and grocery are here to pick up fresh seafood (shucked oysters, lobster tails, filets of salmon) or drop off their own catch to be smoked. We're here for the fried fish sandwich, a filet of fresh, greaseless Alaskan pollock that cannot be contained by the hamburger bun, flapping out to the sides with a display of bravado rarely seen among Filet-O-Fish. When the sandwich rings up at $3.70, McDonald's can't compete with the price, either.
