Owner Brad Rubin scoured the country to research this Jewish deli/diner. His pastrami is tender, fatty and full of flavor; the milkshakes are thick and oversized; matzo balls are enormous; and the brisket is good enough that any grandmother would want to claim it, Jewish or not. Does it hold a candle to other Jewish spots in the country? It’s hard to say. But Rubin definitely holds his own as the host, giving this place enough character to become a fixture in its own right.

Comments

I live near this place and had to deal with Brad several times, and each leaves me more incredulous then the last. He truly does think he is the most important restaurateur in the city. Over the three or four years he's been in business, he has slowly taken over the part of Wabash his diner fronts, putting up ILLEGAL SIGNS restricting access or preventing bikes from being locked to poles, limiting how close people can stand by the entrance, and putting more traffic cones to protect the curb than you'll find at at the drop off to the Oscars! The Capital Grill doesn't do it, Wolfgang Pucks doesn't do it, but Brad thinks he needs to fend off the 'riff raff' that would diminish the appeal and efficiency of his cheesy, two bit diner. Hilarious! Oh, and I've eaten there...he doesn't need to worry about being overrun by the teeming masses yearning for his food, trust me!
