Anyone who fears that Ukrainian Village is losing its ethnicity can take solace in this bakery and café. Well-heeled women chat over coffee and cake, and neighborhood elders tuck into particularly good bowls of borscht, all to the tune of Ukrainian chatter. The younger of the mother-daughter team is right to recommend her mom’s baked goods (the sour cream–layered napoleon goes fast for a reason), but the savory crêpes and delicious soups are worth a visit on their own.
