Bagel on Damen

The second location of Wicker Park’s bagel/coffee shop has everything the original does: Flavored schmears, deli salads, sandwiches (both breakfast and otherwise) and, of course, bagels from Skokie’s New York Bagels & Bialys. The sandwiches are layered with salt (ham) and fat (cream cheese), and, accordingly, they’re pretty satisfying. In the back of the place sits a cooler full of eccentric beers, which would undoubtedly go well with one of these ’wiches. But it turns out they’re really there for the purpose of carrying out—there’s hardly any seats (not to mention atmosphere) to drink them in.
