This West Rogers Park spot proves to be a solid smokehouse for Far North Siders to call their own, even if the smoke leans a bit light. Inside the small and simple space, you’ll find an earnest pit master dishing out brisket that might not sport much of a pink smoke ring, but is tender enough to make any Jewish mother proud. Pulled pork is equally tender, but with bright apple flavor, while musky herbs take pulled chicken deep into comforting Thanksgiving territory. Beans lean sweet and coleslaw is merely fine, but the platter-sized chocolate-chip cookie baked to order helps make up for previous shortcomings.
