Lillstreet Art Center
The best thing about Lillstreet Art Center: The moment artistic inspiration strikes while you’re perusing the gallery of local artisan wares, you can head to the counter and sign up for a class. Sculpture? Metalsmithing? Screenprinting? Take your pick. Between the visiting artists’ residence program and instructors who’ve been around for years, you’ll have opportunities to work with a wide range of seasoned experts for anywhere from one day to eight weeks of sessions. You can even sign up for a weekend-long immersion program at the Lillstreet Lakeside Inn in Michigan. Of course, all that time spent creating art will make you hungry. Hit Lillstreet nonprofit First Slice, the proceeds from which benefit families in need, for delicious counter-service food. 4401 N Ravenswood Ave (773-769-4226).—Jessica Herman
