That '70s style

Jessica Herman

There’s something undeniably stylish about the bohemian-chic look of the 1960s and ’70s, and Tory Burch wisely capitalizes on its appeal—while mixing in a little prep. Now the look finally has a permanent home in Chicago. Step behind the orange lacquer doors of this socialite–turned–fashion designer’s tenth freestanding boutique (but her first in Chicago) and find vintage-inspired pieces, including a sequined tunic ($795), bright red boatneck dress ($350) and a patent-leather trench ($1,995). The selection extends far beyond Burch’s signature items—ballet flats and gold logo medallions—that we’ve come to know through her department-store cameos and includes everything from ankle booties ($350) to leopard-print clutches ($350) to classic polos ($45) for stylish younger shoppers. Check back in November to meet the lady behind the look when Burch comes to the Chicago Botanic Garden for a grand-opening party. 66 E Walton St between Michigan Ave and Ernst Ct (312-280-0010, toryburch.com).
