Play it again, Cynthia
Chicago just can’t enough of Cynthia Rowley, and apparently Rowley can’t get enough of Chicago. The tireless homegrown talent just opened up a second boutique in Bucktown, making neighbors with fellow Midwest native Nanette Lepore. In addition to the designer’s complete collection, the shop features the limited-edition bikes recently seen on the spring runway. 1653 N Damen Ave between Wabansia and North Aves (773-276-9209).

Mansion expansion
Leslie Hindman Auctioneers, the full-service auction house known for its collection of fine art, vintage couture and furniture (recent sales include $72,000 for an Ed Paschke painting and $60,000 for an Andy Warhol) has new 30,000-square-foot digs in the West Loop. Save your pennies now; French telescopes and Biedermeier table clocks are said to be up for bids in Hindman’s upcoming auctions. 1338 W Lake St between Elizabeth and Ada Sts (312-280-1212).

Language barrier
The revolving door of shops closing in the Wicker Park/Bucktown area and new ones coming in continues to spin. The latest closure is Language, which will shut down its Milwaukee Avenue location by the end of the month. In the meantime, everything in the store is currently 40–70% off. The online store will stay intact. 1537 N Milwaukee Ave between Honore St and Damen Ave (773-772-5744, shoplanguage.com).
