Money talks
The economic-stimulus rebates are finally being issued, which made us wonder: How are you spending your $600?

“My sister’s getting married, so it will probably go toward that. [One of her wedding] colors is plum, and she saw a cute pair of Christian Louboutin satin purple shoes, so maybe those. They moved them to the Barneys in New York though, so I’ll probably have to order them from there.” Tiffany Capel, 23, Bucktown

“I’m just going to save mine. There’s no need to waste money on something stupid you’re not going to use anyways. I have to get rid of stuff before I get more.” Jimmy Krok, 30, Logan Square

“The government is keeping mine for my [defaulted] student loans. But if I got to keep the money, I’d probably take half to go shopping and [half to] pay a bill. I usually shop at DSW, so this time I’d buy shoes with a red sole, like Christian Louboutin.” Tracy Fletcher, 33, Bronzeville
“I’m paying part of my Visa bill; I had to use it to keep buying food in this economy. I’m using the rest to donate to a friend who’s doing the Avon Walk for Breast Cancer here in Chicago.… And I just might have to stimulate a manicure.” Jessica Murnane, 27, Lincoln Square

“I think we should go to New York for some economic stimulus. I’ve never been, so why not? Or, there’s a Coach purse I want.” Carmen Browder, 28, Ravenswood
“I’ll probably be spending it here and there at bars and restaurants. I’m in school, so I only have a limited amount of money until August when my next student-loan check comes in the mail. [But if I could splurge], I’d buy a pair of Nikes at [Wicker Park sneaker store] Saint Alfred,” Scott Mioduszewski, 30, Ravenswood
